CANON MV630i MINI DV CAMCORDER DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA USB - Transfering movies to computer?
I have the above camera and i am wanting to transfer my movies from it to the compupter. I have had it for a 4 years. I recenlty brought this cable of ebay for it so i could trasnfer movies. "4-4 pin i.Link/Firewire/IEEE 1394/DV for Sony Canon JVC" . (link below)
I have software that came with the camera for transfering movies but when i plug the cable in my fireport (built into my Asus laptop) it does not find the camera. Any suggestion on how i can transfer the stuff i have filmed on my cam corder (which take tapes) to my computer would be great cheers
ps i have tried putting the camera on playback and turning it on of. nthing seems to work!
The software that came with the camera is probably for transferring stills, not video, and it's expecting to use USB, not firewire. To transfer video you need firewire, but you should use an app like Windows Movie Maker, which should already be on your PC.
If the PC's really not seeing the camcorder you can try this:-
Go into Device Manager (Control Panel / System / Hardware)
Expand the IEEE1394 Bus host controllers, right click on your device and uninstall it. If it's not there to start with, you've got a problem!
Shut down your PC.
Connect the camcorder, switch it to play and reboot your PC. You should see messages coming up as the card and then the camcorder are detected.
